The Impact Programme is pleased to publish its latest review. This highlights the achievements and activities from 2017 and looks back over five years of operation. The Impact Programme is a key part of DFID’s leadership in promoting a higher financial risk approach and reshaping expectations around the responsibilities of business and finance, to meet the UN Global Goals.
Through CDC Group, the Impact Programme has invested in 45 companies in sectors including food and agriculture, construction and energy. The Programme has reached over 12 million low-income people directly and indirectly, offering products and services as varied as poultry feed, internet access and home solar systems.
The Impact Programme has also focused on building the market for impact investment, creating partnerships and supporting projects that are opening up new sources of finance, improving evaluation systems, and building fund manager capacity.
The five-year perspective offers the reader some valuable lessons on the realities of impact investment in challenging contexts, using measurement tools to create business value and how to effectively deploy technical assistance.
